Sapana Labs,
a design studio
rooted in Nepal.
Thinking globally.

A small, deliberate practice working on industrial design, product strategy, and the gap between an idea and a product that holds up in someone's hands.

What we do

Four things,
done well.

Industrial design sits at the centre of everything, with engineering, research, and the digital layer alongside it. If one of these sounds like what you are working on, let's talk.

Industrial & product design

Our core craft. From first sketch to manufacturing-ready file, across consumer hardware, medical devices, and mobility. Grounded in mechanical engineering, so what looks good is also buildable.

Product strategy

Two-week sprints with founders and teams. Research, positioning, and the engineering reality check founders sometimes need first. When a product spans hardware and software, we help the two fit.

Prototyping & engineering

Where design meets the physics. CAD, rapid prototyping, and hands-on iteration on the factory floor, plus the occasional render or interface when a project needs it. We build to learn.

Research & manufacturing

The two ends that keep design honest. Interviews and fieldwork where users are hard to reach, in rural India and Nepal, through to line balancing and vendor selection across South Asia.

Who we work with

We work best with founders and teams who care about how the thing they are making feels, not only the metrics around it. Hardware companies who want product design as a partner rather than a vendor. Healthcare teams designing for people in vulnerable moments. Climate-tech and mobility teams where physical and digital have to fit together carefully.

We don't work with extractive industries, surveillance products, or anything that needs to lie to its users to function. We'd rather have a smaller calendar.

We work in English, Nepali, and basic Hindi. We are three timezones from London and two from Singapore, which on most days works in our favour.

How an engagement actually goes

A simple shape,
and a steady pace.

Conversation

Two free calls. We listen for what you are really trying to solve. If it is not a fit we say so, with referrals where we can.

Discovery

Two to four weeks. Research, fieldwork, a clear brief written together. You can stop here, with everything we've learned.

Design

Six to twelve weeks, depending on depth. Weekly check-ins, no surprise reveals. Decisions made in the open.

Handover

Files, documentation, and two weeks of support for the team taking it forward. We stay reachable.

Take the next step

Bring us the awkward early version.

We like the messy beginning. Send a sketch, a paragraph, a half-built thing. We'll tell you what we see.
